and why is she so fat? 😦 like have you seen her in origins and inquisition? she’s a lovely slim woman
1. Because, at least in my game, she’s a mother who has given birth and I draw her to reflect that.
2. Your idea of “fat” and mine vary wildly.
3. I don’t care about perfectly duplicating the game model, at all, considering 90% of all characters of the same species and gender have exactly the same body type, which is way more unrealistic than me drawing one woman with slightly wide hips.
4. Women of any size are just as “lovely” as slim women.
5. If you will refer to my FAQ:
but I’ve seen some women stay skinny after giving birth,I have a few friends, with how active she had to stay without a husband and on the run all the years she would gain only some weight
Some Women Are Naturally Different Sizes And Carry Their Weight Differently And Also I Don’t Fucking Care: A Memoir, By Me, The Artist, and the sequel, Draw Your Own Fucking Picture If It Bothers You That Much
Isn’t it your job as an artist to draw what somebody paid you to do? If they want a skinny character done, and pay you to do it, what gives you the right to change what they wanted? That’s almost fraud. And also, maybe take your own claim. Some women are naturally different sizes and carry weigh differently and that means that MAYBE some women stay skinny after birth.
This isn’t a commission. It’s a picture I drew for fun on my own time, at nobody’s request. I didn’t “change what someone wanted”. I drew exactly what I want. It’s not anywhere close to “fraud”, what the fuck.
And yes, there are women in this world who are thin, even after childbirth. They are perfectly well represented in movies, on tv, in magazines, in a way that women of other sizes are not. That’s the reason so many women torture themselves trying to become thinner, to match that image, even though weight gain and fluctuations are a natural part of life. I also draw thin women! Because they exist! I draw women of many various sizes because that’s what real life is like. I made a choice to draw this woman this particular way because it’s my art and I can do whatever the hell I want.
You planning on paying me? No? Okay, then kindly go reblog some other person’s ~appropriately skinny~ fanart and leave me alone.
You know, considering the time frame fantasy tries to emulate, hairy legged Morrigan is far more appropriate than hairless Morrigan. Actually! Morrigan wears boots all the time, so I am now thinking she probably does have hairy legs. AND considering that before we meet her in da:i she has been staying at the court of Orlais, and considering what we know about their decadence (and frilly cakes!), it’s more than likely she’s put on some weight since Origins…
And I’m sure all these people so very worried about the accuracy of this drawing, because ‘I know someone who was skinny after giving birth,’ or ‘she had to walk a lot because her husband is on the run’ would have to agree, right? Unless accuracy isn’t what you’re really after?
Tiny disclaimer: I’m not trying to make any thin/ skinny people feel bad, I don’t even think this Morrigan is ‘fat’ so much as average body type, I just find it hilarious that a single image f a somewhat heavier character in a sea of slender characters has gotten some people riled up.
